in the gardens of Carmen de la Victoria

This is the view from our bedroom in the Albaicin area of Granada, the Alhambra under a changing sky. Tonight we went to the caves of Sacromonte to see flamenco–3 women, one man, a guitarist, a singer. So much emotion, passion, in an ancient space. Jiri is an excellent guide and I am making notes because I realize how little I know about, well, anything. This place, its history, this extraordinary music. Walking through the gardens to find the entrance to our room, I could hear water, I could smell something deep green in the rain, and tomorrow I’ll ask for some Lorca to read. Last night, Porto. Tonight, a room under the Alhambra.
