Yesterday we spent a few hours at the Barbican, looking at Unravel, a wondrous textiles exhibit, and then seeing My Neighbour Totoro, a gorgeous production by the RSC, with puppets. In the night, I was awake, thinking about this creation by Tau Lewis, making use of repurposed jeans, fabric, shells, etc. and I saw a way to make something I’ve had in mind for years, a homage to the tent we lived in while building our house, its shape and shelter, and I’ve made notes, filled with possibilities. But first, coffee…
Have just googled the exhibition and see there is much to enjoy here… thank you. Putting the kettle on too. (Tea over here.)
It was just wonderful. One of Magdalena Abakanowicz’s huge haunting Abakan vessels. Some tapestries I kept returning to. A huge indigo installation. If I lived here and had more time, I’d return to look a little more closely at techniques.
Puppets: what fun!
It was such an innovative production, Marcie! Fun and dark and beautiful.
