Instead…

…of weeding, I took John’s camera around with me and made visual notes-to-self. That I’d love a dress the colour of this peony,

that the stems of the maidenhair ferns looked like they’ve been painted with Chinese black lacquer,

that bok choy would be good to have with our lamb this evening,

that a thimbleberry blossom is a remarkably good fit for a bee,

that the wonderful scent of sweet grape suckers that I kept smelling was in fact the Akebia quinata,

and that while following a snake in a very new skin to try to photograph it against the bright grass, I found instead a clump of lemon lilies blooming in an overgrown area behind the forsythia.
