Chilly scenes of winter (in Brno)

Yesterday we went walking with Katka. Brno is at the confluence of the Svitava and Svratka Rivers and she took us to a trail along one of these (I should know which…)  to the lake behind the dam. It was cold but gloriously bright and it was a chance to see what people do when presented with ice: they skate!

We walked to a restaurant where we had warm soup and dark beer, then we retraced our steps through the pines and oaks to the river again.

We went to the university to make some arrangements for our class, which begins tomorrow, then John and I returned to our hotel. Dinner later — wild mushroom risotto for me and pear and gorgonzola salad for John. We slept like babies.

  1. Would you mind if I used your photo with the ice skating for my blog for foreigners on things to do in Brno in the Winter where I include ice skating on the Brno lake, its a great photo and of course, i will give photo credit. I appreciate your time and great post on your time in Brno

  2. You can certainly use the photo, Chelsea. Photoredit should go to John Pass. And I’d also suggest hot chocolate and pastries at Cafe Maia — a wonderful way to warm up in winter — Cafe Maia, Brno, Jaselská 17
